Military advantage
The advantage or gain that a party to the conflict anticipates will result from an attack. The term is used in the law of targeting, specifically to define the associated notions of “military objective” and “proportionality”. The advantage anticipated from an attack must be military in nature. If not, the principle of military necessity is flouted.
