War correspondents are representatives of the media who, in case of an international armed conflict, are accredited to and accompany the armed forces without being members thereof. Should they fall into the power of the enemy, they benefit from prisoner-of-war status under Art. 4(A)(4) of Geneva Convention III. Journalists, whether employed by their media or free-lance, are normally not considered war correspondents.
